The Sunday Times Scotland is to get a Scotsman, Les Snowdon, as its editor in the next few weeks.
Currently deputy sports editor of The Sunday Times at the London HQ, Snowdon is returning to his home country after the Scottish elections to replace Dean Nelson, travelling in the opposite direction to edit the paper’s famous Insight investigations team.
Snowdon’s place at Wapping is being taken by Matt Tench, who has edited the Observer Sport Monthly magazine since its launch in 2000.
Snowdon, 41, has worked for the Dumfires & Galloway Standard and has been both chief sports sub and a key member of the back bench for The Scotsman. He joined The Sunday Times Scotland in 1999 as sports editor and the London sports desk as deputy sports editor in 2000.
Meanwhile Stephen Grey, whom Nelson is to succeed at Insight, becomes health editor.
