Former GMTV presenter Eamonn Holmes will join Sky News later this year to front its morning show, Sunrise.
Holmes
is joining Sky News as it moves into new studios at Sky headquarters in
west London and a programme overhaul is revealed. A new-look Sunrise
with Holmes and co-presenter Lorna Dunkley will broadcast between 6am-
9am each weekday. Dunkley joined Sky News from Westcountry TV in 2002.
Holmes,
who presented GMTV for 12 years, is also the host of BBC1’s National
Lottery Jet Set and Hard Spell, and presents his own Saturday morning
sports show on BBC Radio 5 Live.
Head of Sky News Nick Pollard
said of Holmes’ appointment: “Eamonn is an outstanding and experienced
journalist who can handle any topic with flair, authority and warmth.
He is a natural and very knowledgeable interviewer. We are delighted
that a presenter held in such affection by the British viewing public
will be joining our award-winning team.”
