Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

Sky News relaunches website with mobile-friendly design

By Dominic Ponsford

Sky News today relaunched its website in a mobile-friendly format.

The tile-based design means that the site has the same design for mobiles, tablets and desktops and automatically reformats itself depending the size of screen the reader is using.

The new design also incorporates the Livefyre platform for live blogs, commenting and to pull-in social media reaction to stories.

The Livefyre blogging platform was used by Sky News during the Oscar Pistorius trial to publish updates from the editorial team in court as well information shared on Twitter via the #PistoriusTrial hashtag.

Sky News is currently exploring integrating Livefyre into its TV output.

Sky News does not reveal a montthly total for its web traffic, but mobile and tablet devices amount to between 40 and 50 per cent of the total – rising to 60 per cent at weekends.
