Sky News is expanding its UK and Ireland operations in the run up to a relaunch next year, and the deployment of journalists to its Five News service in January, with 16 new editorial jobs in the UK and at least five in Ireland. A new London reporter and a North of England correspondent are among the new jobs
It is also seeking an Africa correspondent to replace Stewart Ramsay, who will be moving back from Johannesburg to an “as yet unannounced” position on the Five News bulletin come January.
For London, the broadcaster is also seeking a senior news editor and news editor for planning, a deputy news editor and five news producers. There are also vacancies for four camera operators/editors, in London and Leeds, and a news assistant and trainee director for London.
The expansion will bring the number of personnel employed by Sky News in the UK to 400 and in Ireland to 30.
