The annual Sky News Trish Ennis Bursary has named the two students who will receive this year’s fund.
Now in its fourth year, the bursary lends financial support to two overseas students enrolled on City University’s MA in international journalism. In addition to their expenses being met, they will also be given work experience at Sky News.
The 2004 recipients are Abdi Osma Adan, a former senior reporter with Kenya’s Nation TV, and Priyanka Caturvedi, who worked as an assistant producer on the Indian news channel TV Today.
The award is in memory of former Sky News foreign editor Trish Ennis who died aged 35 of breast cancer in 2000.
Nick Pollard, head of Sky News, said: “Trish was a wonderfully bright young journalist who was instrumental in putting Sky News on the map through her work on our award-winning Kosovo coverage. The bursary is very much in the spirit of Trish and aims to help the next generation of young journalists broaden their skills.”
