Site will offer election checks

By Press Gazette

Channel 4 has launched a website for the electorate aiming to keep a check on the political spiel of the election campaigns.

The
website – called Factcheck – (www.channel4.com/factcheck), will search
for the truth behind the numbers, statistics and the data with which
politicians often attempt to dazzle the public. The site will update
daily once the election campaign begins, focusing on key issues of
political controversy.

Channel 4 Factcheck is based on the
original fact-checking website www.factcheck.org, which launched in the
US in 2003 and was popular during the Presidential elections with its
scrutiny of the accuracy of politicians’ The team of researchers
and political journalists will be led by Jon Bernstein, previously
editor-in-chief of the government website Directgov.
