A new showbiz news website, aiming to be the one stop shop for all celebrity news, has launched.
Thedailygoss.com, which had a soft launch last Friday, will update with content on a 24 hour basis. The venture is being led by Roger Kasper, a former deputy editor of Hello! and OK! and most recently showbiz editor at ACP-Natmags’ Reveal.
Kasper said the site would compete against the magazine branded gossip sites like Heatworld.com by being constantly updated. ‘Global gossip is happening all the time. You cant be a gossip site and say ‘we’re 9-5 but after 5pm don’t bother us’.”
Kasper said the new site would bypass the problem of magazine branded gossip sites being forced to only carry their own news. Thedailygoss currently runs stories from this week’s Hello! and The Sun as well as its own sourced stories.
The site also carries a real life section, which Kasper hopes to grow into an agency style business, offering true life stories to print titles. There are three journalists working on thedailygoss.com with a number of freelancers on what Kasper called ‘a shoestring’but he hopes that business will grow to the point where he can recruit more staff later in the year.
Currently, the site is free to access but the team are looking at charging for premium content. Funding will come through traditional advertising.
