Shortlist unveiled for 2003 Picture Editors’ Award

A jury of 25 picture editors assessed more than 2,100 entries for the 2003 Picture Editors’ Awards and have drawn up the final shortlists. Picture editors from all daily, Sunday and evening titles throughout the UK and Ireland are now invited to vote for the winners. The ballot closes at midnight on 14 April. Entries are also invited for the Getty Images Newspaper of the Year categories. Full details can be found at the awards website (www.pictureawards.net).

The awards will be presented at the Great Hall of the London Guildhall on 12 May.

The 2003 nominations are:

The Fujifilm Photographer of the Year: Dan Chung, The Guardian; John Giles, PA; Jeff Mitchell, Reuters; Stefan Rousseau, PA; Abbie Trayler-Smith, Freelance/The Daily Telegraph.

The Getty Images Regional Photographer of the Year: Ben Birchall, Bristol Evening Post; Dave Charnley, Teesside Evening Gazette; Jason Roberts, Liverpool Daily Post and Echo; Ian Rutherford, The Scotsman.

The Getty Images Magazine Photographer of the Year: Kirsty Anderson, Sunday Herald; Tom Craig, Freelance/The Independent; Kalpesh Lathigra, NB Pictures; Abbie Trayler-Smith, Freelance/The Daily Telegraph.
