The paper which broke the story of Britain’s worst serial killer, Harold Shipman, marked his death by publishing a 24-page standalone supplement.
News that the 57-year-old former GP had hanged himself came at 8.30am on Tuesday and the Manchester Evening News put five pages of coverage in that day’s edition.
The following day the paper had another four pages in the main paper in addition to the supplement, which was on sale for 30p.
