The latest British recruit to Los Angeles-based picture agency Splash News snapped his first showbiz exclusive before he even left London.
Tom McGourty, a former Ross Parry Agency photographer, was queuing outside the US Embassy when he spotted actress Anna Friel in the line behind him. He was waiting to pick up the I-visa, which all journalists now need if they plan to work in the US.
McGourty, camera at the ready, snapped some pictures as they waited outside in the snow.
“She said she was hoping to get more work in Hollywood and needed a visa, so she was ready and prepared to move for work,” McGourty said.
After successfully obtaining an I-visa, he will soon be heading out to LA to join the Splash team. Also joining him will be photographer Chris Whittle – son of Cavendish Press owner Brian Whittle – who has also landed a job at the British-owned agency.
