Well here’s some proactive PR.
Someone called Shaun Robinson has written to hacks in the North West in the following terms: ‘A story referencing United Utilities was issued by Lindsay Hoyle MP today.
‘We are putting you on notice that Lindsay Hoyle MP’s comments about post office charges are factually incorrect. Although we recognise that the story is based on an Early Day Motion and your reports are therefore covered by qualified privilege, this privilege can be compromised if you publish with malice.
‘We take the view that you will be publishing maliciously if you print or broadcast information we have now told you is false and incorrect. BBC North West Tonight has already dropped this story today after receiving this notice.”
I tell you what, if I was on that patch I’d be going without sleep in my efforts to stitch up that arrogant little tosser.
