The new executive producer of Setanta Sports Scottish is looking for 12 key journalistic staff in a hurry after the satellite TV broadcaster won a £35m deal for live coverage of the Scottish Premier League.
Colin Davidson, who took up his new post this week, has a shopping list for presenters, commentators, reporters and production journalists for the new programme, Scottish Live, which kicks off in just over two months.
Dublin-based pay-per-view broadcaster Setanta has signed a four-year deal which will see Scottish Live covering 38 matches each season.
Davidson will be speaking to sports journalists at BBC Scotland, which is seeking to prune staff after being forced to axe its flagship sport programme, Sportscene, on losing the SPL deal to Setanta.
Davidson has joined Setanta after a 10-year stint with Sky Sports.
He began his career on the Evening Express, Aberdeen, as a sports reporter, moving to Grampian TV briefly, before joining Scottish Television where he was a sports producer and director until he joined Sky.
