Scottish TV has been granted planning permission for new headquarters at the Pacific Quay development in Glasgow.
The planning approval marks the beginning of the company’s move to a purpose-built studio complex for more than 400 staff on the south side of the River Clyde.
The building will also house the corporate offices of parent company Scottish Media Group.
Scottish TV will join BBC Scotland on the Pacific Quay site, which is being specifically developed as a media village.
BBC Scotland’s new £140m HQ will open in 2007.
Donald Emslie, chief executive of SMG Television, said: “This means we can now get on with building one of the most modern television studios in Europe.”
SMG aims to move all staff from Scottish TV, SMG TV Productions and SMG Broadcast and Event Solutions, currently housed at its city centre HQ in Renfield Street, to its new media centre.
The building will house two stateofthe-art studios.
