The publishing of fortnightly B2B drinks magazine MA Scotland is being taken over by Glasgow-based 55 North.
The magazine is owned by Crawley-based William Reed, publisher of the Morning Advertiser, and was launched 18 months ago.
55 North already publishes Scottish Local Retailer on behalf of William Reed, and hopes that the latest move will strengthen the relationship between the two companies at the same time as giving MA Scotland access to more staff and resources.
All editorial, design and advertising sales will be handled at 55 North’s Glasgow offices. Previously MA Scotland was being published by William Reed from Edinburgh.
Editor Mairi Clarke has gone freelance but will contribute regularly for the magazine. Her deputy Tom Stainer will be acting editor.
Commenting on the move, 55 North’s publishing director Antony Begley – who is also the editor of Scottish Local Retailer – said: “We’ve proven with Scottish Local Retailer over the last 18 months that working hand in hand with William Reed we have a winning formula.
“We picked up the PPA Business Magazine of the Year title after only seven issues.
“A lot of hard work, commitment and talent has gone into building these two highly successful publications.
“Bringing them together under one roof will really help to co-ordinate everything.”
Begley added: “I am fully confident that we can move this title on.
We have the experience and we know the market very well.
“I have worked in this sector for around 12 years. It is something we know well and that is close to our hearts.”
