Scotsman raises £400,000 for UNICEF

By Press Gazette

Readers of The Scotsman have donated more than £400,000 to the UNICEF
appeal to help Sri Lankan and Indonesian children worst affected by the
tsunami disaster.
The United Nations aid organisation said the newspaper’s appeal
had eclipsed the amount raised for UNICEF by any other newspaper in the
UK.
Scotsman editor John McGurk said: “Our coverage of the
tsunami was extensive and we were committed to highlighting the
devastating effect it had. For our readers to pledge so much money in
response to the plight of others in such a short space of time is truly
overwhelming and a tremendous testament to their generosity.”
