Journalists whose campaigning scoops have exposed conmen and rip-off
merchants were honoured at the Trading Standards Institute awards.
Andrew
Penman and Michael Greenwood from the Daily Mirror won the top Consumer
Journalist of the Year prize for their weekly consumer rights column.
The
judges said: “They don’t mind calling a scumbag a scumbag and they
spotlight some major scams with a mixture of dramatic journalism and
plenty of humour.”
Kevin Peachey of the Nottingham Evening Post
was Regional Consumer Journalist of the Year, Radio Four’s You and
Yours won Best Consumer Radio Programme, and BBC Scotland won Best
Consumer Television Programme for The Enforcers.
