Sands returns with Indy column and Mail role

By Press Gazette

By Dominic Ponsford

Sacked Sunday Telegraph editor Sarah Sands has returned to the journalistic fray with a job at the Daily Mail.

Sands was axed a month ago as editor of the Sunday Telegraph after just under nine months in the job when her more feminine and lifestyle-based relaunch of the title was judged by management to have failed.

This weekend she re-emerged for the first time after her exit with a diary-style column in the Independent on Sunday. And she has a new job as consultant editor of the Daily Mail.

It is a return to Associated Newspapers for Sands, who, after starting her career on the Kent and Sussex Courier, worked on the Evening Standard as Londoner’s Diary editor, features editor and then associate editor.
