Irish state broadcaster RTE has undertaken to release details of the salaries being paid to its top earners after it was directed to do so under the Freedom of Information Act.
The data to be published will relate to 1998-2000. The main interest centres on Late Late Show host Pat Kenny, who also presents a daily current affairs radio programme, whose annual earnings are believed to be between €400,000 (£266,000) and €500,000 (£333,000). Details of salary scales for regular staff, just issued, show that journalists are paid between €42,205 and €57,280; correspondents between €54,500 and €74,230, and newscasters €56,800-€66,000.
