Sainsbury’s Magazine has appointed a new features editor and deputy chief sub-editor.
Gillian Rowe, former editor of the Daily Mail Weekend magazine, will head up the magazine’s Life section as features editor and will increase coverage of health, beauty, homes, gardens and travel.
Anne Duncan, who has worked on Ideal Home, Homes and Gardens and The English Home, is the new deputy chief sub.
Duncan’s appointment follows the promotion of Sara Goulden from deputy to chief sub.
Goulden said: “I’ve been here quite a while and I’ve seen a lot of changes and the recent ones make it an exciting time.”
Goulden joined Sainsbury’s Magazine as a junior sub five years ago from On Course Publications.
She said of Duncan: “Anne’s expertise is in the home and gardening areas and mine is food, so hopefully we should complement each other really well.”
Features editor Rowe has recently been working as a freelance for The Daily Telegraph, The Times and The Observer.
She began her career at She magazine before moving on to The Guardian.
Rowe said: “Since its relaunch in October, the magazine has been changing and my experience should come in very useful for the new directions we are taking.”
Editor of Sainsbury’s Magazine, Sue Robinson, said: “This is an exciting time for the magazine.
“Although food is still at the heart of what we do, our new lifestyle pages have attracted new readers and Gillian, Sara and Anne will help us build on that success.”
