Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp donates $1m to the Republican Party

By admin

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation has made a $1m (£643,875) donation to the Republican Party.

The donation is a boost to the funding for the party’s assault on the US mid-term elections set for November and comes despite Murdoch praising Barack Obama during the race for the White House in 2008.

News Corp, which owns Fox News, the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal in the US, said the donation was being made as it believed in the Republican Party’s ‘pro-business agenda”.

The Wall St Journal reported Jack Horner, a spokesman for News Corp, denying that the corporate donation ‘would have any bearing on our newsgathering activities at Fox News or any other of our properties”.
