Revamp for RTE

By Press Gazette

Irish national broadcaster RTE is to change the name of its second television channel, Network2.

From October it will be known as RTE2. Presentation, content and scheduling are also to be revamped.

Advertisers welcomed the change, saying the broadcaster needed to bring its main youth oriented channel under the RTE umbrella, and that Network2 and its radio channel, 2FM, were not identifiable as RTE services.

Network2 has been pushed into third place in viewing share terms by national independent channel, TV3.
