Participants from 12 independent production companies have been shortlisted for this year’s researcher development programme run by the Glasgow-based Research Centre for Television and Interactivity.
The scheme, part-funded by Channel 4, enables the successful applicants to employ a full-time development researcher for a year.
Among the successful applicants for the scheme – entering its fifth year – are a number of documentary producers including Testimony Films in Bristol; Belfast-based Brian Waddell Productions and DoubleBand Films; Green Bay Media and Boomerang TV, both in Cardiff.
Over the past four years, 49 researchers have completed the programme, some of whom have helped participating independents develop and secure documentary commissions from Channel 4 and the BBC.
