Financial magazine Real Deals editor Martin Essex has quit after just four months and been replaced by his deputy, Ross Butler.
Essex, a former economics editor of Sunday Business, was brought in to edit the magazine in April, following a shake-up in January and the departures of then editor Grant Murgatroyd and deputy Shaun Beaney.
Both went to new jobs.
Essex was expected to take more of an ambassadorial role than previous editors, with a view to building the title’s profile abroad and adopting more of an investigative tone to attract more readers.
Butler joined Real Deals as a senior reporter and was promoted to deputy editor in January.
Real Deals is published by Caspian Publishing.
