Daily Mirror columnist Brian Reade has been honoured by the League Against Cruel Sports for highlighting the “hypocrisy” of last year’s Countryside Alliance march.
He was given the Peter Wilson Award, an annual prize given to the journalist who has done the most to further the anti-bloodsports cause.
Reade has written about fox hunting several times and last September wrote a report about the Liberty and Livelihood march. He said: “I did a spread on the march, exposing what I saw as the hypocrisy of it – the Countryside Alliance said it was all about rural issues like closing post offices, but really it was about keeping fox hunting legal.”
