Fabulous magazine, the News of the World‘s magazine supplement, has promoted associate editor Rachel Richardson to executive editor.
Richardson, 30, will be in charge of the magazine’s special issues and will ‘spearhead a series of new initiatives both in the magazine and online”.
Sally Eyden, Fabulous editor, said: ‘Rachel is a hugely talented and creative journalist with boundless enthusiasm and ideas.
‘She has been a key figure in the launch of Fabulous – which has seen a significant growth in readership – making her the perfect person to help take the magazine to the next stage.”
Richardson said: “I feel privileged to have aided Fabulous’s launch and hugely successful first year in the market. I can’t wait to build on that success in my new role.”
Latest NRS figures place the average weekly readership of Fabulous at 5.7 million, a 400,000 increase on six months ago, according to the magazine.
Richardson joined the Scottish News of the World in 2002 as news reporter.
She has also worked on the newspaper as features writer, TV reporter, TV editor and showbusiness editor.
She was appointed associate editor of Fabulous in 2007 for its launch in February 2008.
