Quirke is FT’s top young arts critic

By Press Gazette

Kieron Quirke has won the Financial Times young arts critics award.

He will receive a commission from the FT and be invited to lunch with the paper’s critics and judging panel.

Quirke now works regularly as a reviewer at Time Out, where he also produces listings.

It is the ?rst year of the now annual award, which was launched by the paper and Linda Christmas, director of the postgraduate newspaper journalism course at London’s City University.

She wanted to honour her late husband, John Higgins – the FT’s ?rst arts critic – and encourage the next generation of arts commentators.
