Publishers join web health plan

Six leading international publishers specialising in medical journals have teamed up with the World Health Organisation, the British Medical Journal and the Soros foundation network to provide medical information online to the world’s 100 poorest countries.

It is a step towards establishing the Health Internetwork, which will give public health workers, policy makers and researchers access to the latest news and developments.

Blackwell, Elsevier Science, Harcourt Worldwide STM Group, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Springer Verlag and John Wiley have all agreed to offer either free or cut-price services.
