Property Week’s Barrie becomes ed-in-chief

By Press Gazette

Business publisher United Business Media has promoted a number of senior editorial staff on its Property Week title, including promoting editor Giles Barrie to editor-in-chief.

Barrie will maintain responsibility for content across Property Week titles while assuming control of overall strategy.

Deputy editor James Whitmore has been promoted to executive editor to take greater responsibility for the title’s markets and professional sections. He will continue to write and edit Property Week’s finance section.

Online editor Iain O’Neil has also been made an executive editor and he will now take on responsibility for leading the strategic growth of Property Week’s online operation.

Markets correspondent David Hatcher has moved to the job of regional correspondent.

Barrie told Press Gazette the change reflected his wider role across the printed magazine, propertyweek.com, Property Week events, interactive magazines and the title’s spin-off “client solutions” business.
