61-year-old journalist arrested in computer-hacking probe

By Andrew Pugh

Two men including a 61-year-old journalist have been arrested by officers investigating allegations of computer hacking.

A 58-year-old man was arrested at his home in Surrey and will be interviewed at a South London police station, and the 61-year-old journalist (Tuleta arrest 16) was arrested at his home in Kent and will be interviewed at a nearby police station.

They were arrested by officers investigating criminal breaches of privacy.

The Met said:

Both were arrested shortly before 7am at their home addresses for offences under Section 3 of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and Sections 1 & 2 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.

Searches are being done at both addresses.

This morning's arrests are part of Kalmyk, the operational name for an investigation into journalism related computer hacking which is being carried out by Operation Tuleta. These investigations are running in conjunction with MPS phone-hacking inquiries.
