PPA publishing diploma launched

By Press Gazette

The Periodical Publishers Association has launched a new diploma for publishers.

The Diploma in Publishing is understood to be the first cross-industry professional qualification for the magazine sector and has been developed under the direction of the Periodicals Training Council.

The programme will run over 18 months with publishers attending core modules in subjects such as business planning, finance, recruitment techniques and managing editorial teams.

PTC chairman Nicholas Brett said: “The PPA Diploma in Publishing is a unique opportunity to enhance your knowledge and abilities as a magazine publisher. Many people who come into publishing are accomplished in one role or another but are often thrown into the deep end when given a publisher position. This diploma can fill the gaps and the need for this qualification is apparent as we are able to launch the programme with all the places on the first programme reserved.”
