The Press Association is looking for journalists to join its operation that supplies news for Teletext following the recent departure of a number of journalists from its Glasgow and Howden, East Yorkshire newsrooms.
Group production editor Margaret Hicks declined to reveal the number of vacancies, but confirmed they were to replace journalists that had recently left PA.
She said the news agency was also looking for more journalists to work on a casual basis and at weekends covering sports.
Hicks added that the agency was embarking on its own production training scheme, in a bid to “grow its own” from July and would be carrying out interviews shortly. The training will be in new media, page-ready newspaper production, Teletext and broadcasting.
The move is a departure from PA’s three-year general reporting and production traineeship and in addition to the joint scheme set up with the Daily Mail last year.
