Press Gazette’s revelation last week that Daily Record editor Peter Cox is to get the first interview with Prince William since he started university unleashed a rash of William stories at the weekend.
The London-based rivals to the Record broke their self-imposed embargo on printing pictures and stories about the young Prince. Some groups believe St James’s Palace might now renege on the deal with the Record.
Cox was on holiday in New York this week and uncontactable but his deputy, Murray Foote, said he had spoken with the Palace before he left.
“As far as he was aware, the arrangements were exactly the same with the proviso that the interview would be pooled to a wider base – to include the Scottish editions of the national titles,” he said.
