Trinity Mirror’s managing director of its regional newspapers, Stephen Parker, has been put forward by the Newspaper Society’s council as the next vice-president of the society.
Subject to approval at the NS’s annual general meeting on 6 May, Parker will succeed John Robertson as vice-president. Robertson takes over from the society’s current president, Tim Bowdler, on 1 July.
Parker is a main board director of Trinity Mirror. He was previously managing director of the northern region of Trinity Mirror’s regional newspaper division, and has held positions at the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo, the Newcastle Chronicle and Journal and within Thomson Regional Newspapers.
A new president is elected from the Newspaper Society membership in July every year.
