The parents of missing BBC Gaza correspondent Alan Johnston have recorded a birthday message for their son.
The journalist, who was abducted at gunpoint as he left his office in Gaza 66 days ago, celebrates his 45th birthday today.
The birthday message was recorded in the hope that Johnston has access to TV or radio.
“We’re thinking about you all the time. It would be a much happier birthday if you could be with us today. All our fondest love, my son. Keep your chin up,” said Graham Johnston, the correspondent’s father.
“Your dad and your sister and I, we’re all right, Alan, honestly,” added his mother, Margaret.
The message comes as a series of vigils around the world are held to mark Johnston’s birthday.
