A national newspaper with a half-amillion print run launched in Scotland this week to encourage more people to have their papers and magazines delivered to their homes.
The 32-page Daily News was produced by Macdonald Media, a company run by former Daily Record executive and Paisley Daily Express editor Norman Macdonald.
The paper is the promotional tool of the Scottish Home News & Magazine Delivery Week campaign, which runs between 20 and 26 October. It was the first time all the major Scottish publishers, wholesalers and distributors, Menzies and the National Federation of Retail Newsagents have come together with a common aim.
Celebrities who used to be paper boys and girls are featured in the News and a tail-ender on the back page has chip shop owners describing the best papers to wrap your chips in.
Macdonald said: “The stories in the Daily News make it a very readable product. I’ve made sure that somewhere in all these stories there is a message about why people should have their papers or magazines homedelivered.”
