PA takes over Racing Pages

By Press Gazette

The Press Association’s sports division is taking over Racing Pages, which provides camera-ready racecard pages to UK national and regional newspapers.

Previously a joint venture between PA and Weatherbys, the secretariat to the British Horseracing Board, Racing Pages is based in Hull and employs 23 people.

PA has purchased all the shares in the company, set up four years ago when the partners merged their page-ready supply businesses.

Chris Buckley, managing director of PA’s sports services division, said: "Given the changes in taxation on betting introduced by the Chancellor, the opportunities for racing are considerable. We aim to ensure Racing Pages is ready to respond to this opportunity."

During the foot and mouth crisis when racing has been mainly off the agenda in the UK, Racing Pages has been supplying foreign racing information from South Africa, Italy, Dubai and France to bookmakers.
