A journalist on Scottish weekly The Orcadian was forced to take to sea when news broke of a hastily convened public meeting on the island of Shapinsay.
Fiona Nichol used the yacht she owns with husband Alistair to get to the meeting, as the normal ferry service couldn’t get her there and back.
She said: “We have the use of a reporter’s pool car to get us around the Orkney mainland, but I’m not quite sure what the nautical mileage rate is for a quick sail across to Shapinsay on the yacht.”
