Farmers Weekly feature writer Tim Relf has just had his second novel
published. His first book, Stag, published last year, told the story of
a young man with an alcohol problem on a stag weekend.
The
follow-up, Home, is about a 28-year-old forced to move back to his
parents’ home after news that his father is having an affair and his
mother having a breakdown.
Relf said: “It follows his highs and
lows over the summer of 2002, as he tries to tame his wayward father,
nurses his ailing mother and struggles to adapt to village ways after
his high-flying London life. It takes a wry look at relationships,
friendships, families and identity, while exploring depression and
mental health issues.”
Relf said he was unlikely to be giving up
the day job just yet after receiving a £3,000 advance for both books
and 50p for every copy sold.
Both are published by Piatkus.
