Six! For Times at Sports Journalists' Association Awards

The Times picked up six prizes at the Sports Journalists' Assocation Awards last night – including sports newspaper of the year for a second year running.

Cricket correspondent Michael Atherton was named sports writer of the year for a second time and also picked up the prize for specialist correspondent.

The awards night at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London saw The Times' Matthew Syed win sports feature writer for a second year; Mark Souster's exclusives on England's Rugby World Cup reports won sports scoop of the year for the paper and Ed Hawkins completed the Times haul being named sports betting writer of the year.

The Guardian's Donald McRae was named sports interviewer of the year for a third year running and Jon Colman from Cumbrian Newspapers was named regional sports writer of the year – adding to his already impressive haul of Regional Press Awards prizes.
