Dougherty leaves the Mail for the Sunday Telegraph

Telegraph Media Group has appointed Hugh Dougherty as the news editor of The Sunday Telegraph.

Dougherty joins from the Daily Mail where he has been deputy news editor since November last year.

Prior to joining the Daily Mail, Dougherty was news editor at the Evening Standard, where he had worked for seven years.

Ian MacGregor, editor of the Sunday Telegraph, said: "Hugh Dougherty is a superb news editor and I am delighted that he will be helping us continue to set the news agenda every week."
