Martin Bright to join Jewish Chronicle

Former News Statesman political editor Martin Bright is joining the Jewish Chronicle as political editor.

Bright will join the in the newly created post on 14 September.

Stephen Pollard, editor of the Jewish Chronicle, said: "I am thrilled that Martin is joining the JC. He will be a heavyweight addition to our superb team, providing unmissable political analysis and news stories."

The Chronicle, the world's oldest Jewish newspaper, has also appointed Miriam Shaviv as its new foreign editor and Gerald Jacobs as its new comment editor.

Those new appointments are with immediate effect. Both Shaviv and Jacobs were already fulfilling those roles, albeit in an acting capacity

Bright, who is also a former Observer journalist, left the New Statesman in January after more than three years on the magazine.

The weekly Jewish Chronicle has a circulation of 30,436, according to the most recent figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
