No news is bad news

By Grey Cardigan

Just what has happened to the ITV’s 5.30am early morning news bulletin? OK, it might just have been a re-hash of the 10 o’clock programme, but at least it gave us news junkies our dawn fix.

Now it’s disappeared we instead have some surreal children’s programme followed by a pointless 5.55am update, or we have to put up with the ponderous, foreign business-led offering on the Beeb at the same time.

Come on chaps. We might have lost our evening newspapers, but some of us are still keeping evening newspaper hours. That early morning slot is a necessary eye-opener, along with the three fags and the double expresso.
