The NME's Alex Needham is to join Guardian Unlimited's new Arts And Entertainment website as deputy editor.
Needham is currently deputy editor at NME, which he joined in January 2001 as associate editor.
He previously worked as features editor on The Face between 1999 and 2001 and was assistant editor on Smash Hits!
Needham said of his move: "I'd been on the NME for six years and felt I'd done everything I could do there. This is a really exciting opportunity to work across the arts and not just music journalism.
"Also, there's the attraction of online. I look at websites all the time and so do all my mates. I just think that people are only starting to get to grips with its huge potential and interactive nature."
Needham moves to his new role from 13 November. IPC is advertising for a new deputy editor for NME.
