NHS supplies health data to news sites

The National Health Service’s website NHS Choices is in talks with a number of online publishers to supply health-related content.

NHS Choices already has a syndication arrangement with Newsquest, providing local hospital information to the ‘Local Information’sections of the regional newspaper group’s websites.

Users of Newsquest’s network of regional newspaper websites, which includes LancashireTelegraph.co.uk, Brighton’s Argus.co.uk and Glasgow’s EveningTimes.co.uk, can access up-to-date health information, including comparative data on and locations of local hospitals.

In February, parent company Gannett said Newsquest’s network of more than 180 websites in averaged 4.8 million monthly unique users in 2007.

May 2007 ABCe figures showed the Newsquest portfolio had 4.5 million unique users and 49.1 million page impressions that month.
