Latest Irish radio listenership figures make poor reading for Dublin’s only talk-based station, NewsTalk 106.
The official JNLR/MRBI survey shows that NewsTalk 106 is being listened to by only 2 per cent of the potential audience after nine months on air. The survey put the RTE Radio 1 news and current affairs programme Morning Ireland in the top spot, with an increase in its daily audience to 512,000.
NewsTalk 106 management described its listening figures as “highly disappointing”. The station is now pinning its hopes on a marketing campaign, costing an estimated E400,000 (£268,000), to try to put it on the map in the fiercely competitive Dublin market.
