Newsquest anger as Gannett boss takes pay cut

By paulmcnally

Journalists at Newsquest have expressed their anger at an email memo sent to all staff with the news that Craig Dubow, chairman of parent company Gannett, was taking a voluntary 17 per cent pay cut.

One reporter told HoldTheFrontPage.co.uk: “We are all worried about whether he will be able to survive on his salary of more than $800,000 a year. It would take most young senior reporters more than 20 years to earn what he earns in a year.

“For the Newsquest chiefs to think sending this email would be good for morale shows how out of touch they really are.”
