News ‘comment’ paper to launch

By Press Gazette

A weekly newpaper claiming to be Britain’s only dedicated comment paper launches on 19 March.

The London News Review will have an initial print run of 10,000 but there are plans to increase this to 30,000. It has a £1 cover price and has been set up by journalists Paul Carr and Charlie Skelton.

The paper will be available on subscription and at select retail outlets.

There will also be a weekly e-mail edition and continuous internet updates.

It will contain cartoons by Simpsons creator Matt Groening.

Editor Carr said: “It is difficult to imagine a time when the gap between information and understanding has been so wide. In our scramble to know everything, many of us have ended up knowing nothing. It is LNR’s mission to change all that by cutting through the spin to explain not just what’s happening but why it’s happening.”
