Pet lovers will be targeted by a new magazine launching in July which is being billed as the UK’s largest circulation monthly pet magazine.
Pet Planet Magazine will launch off the back of the pet website PetPlanet.co.uk, which attracts 120,000 unique users a month.
The 64-page title will be distributed free to more than 55,000 of its subscribers, as well as to all major veterinary and animal rescue shelters.
Carina Norris, former editor of All About Cats magazine, is editor.
The new title is produced by new independent company Calico Publishing, which set up PetPlanet.co.uk in 1999 and earlier this month acquired two further websites – thinknatural.com and greenfingers.
com.
Both businesses went into liquidation and were subsequently saved from closure.
Calico managing director Kevin Hague said Pet Planet Magazine was designed to be a general interest magazine for pet owners.
"If you consider every other household in the UK has a pet, most pet magazines are not reaching that far.
"This will be the largest circulation monthly pet magazine in the UK by a long way," he said.
Hague stressed it would be editorially led and suggested there was also potential for further opportunities in print publishing linked to the acquisitions.
