Trinity Mirror is adding to its stable of over 40 newspapers in the
Midlands by launching a new paid-for weekly, the Solihull and
Warwickshire Guardian .
It will be edited by Ross Crawford, former series editor of the free weeklies Solihull News and Solihull Times .
Editorial
director of Midland Weekly Media, Tony Lennox, said the tabloid paper
will provide quality editorial. He said: “Content distinguishes quality
now, not size. It was clear that people wanted a local paper that is
proactive and one that leads public debate rather than follows it. This
is very much an editorial product which will be able to give greater
depth to news stories than any of our other papers in the area.”
The Guardian’s first issue was 96 pages and had a print run of 20,000 copies.
