Digital Photography Buyer & User has appointed Karen Hollocks, former deputy editor on DVD Review, to be its new editor, writes Ruth Addicott.
The news coincides with fresh investment, a move to Bournemouth and a relaunch that sees the magazine change its name to Digital Photography User.
The 116-page title has a new format, improved paper and will feature a DVD-style case for a covermounted CD-Rom, which will now appear with every issue.
The magazine’s publisher, Highbury House Communications, plans to reposition the title as a more mass-market, consumer-friendly, techniques-based title targeting photography enthusiasts wanting to improve their technique.
The revamp will result in each issue featuring at least 15 major projects for readers to follow, in addition to free image-editing software and sample shots on the covermounted CD. There will also be onlocation shooting advice from top photographers and suggestions on how to get the best results from readers’ own equipment.
